When using Yardbook to build a route, we rely on third-party mapping services like Google Maps to convert addresses into geocode coordinates.
While this process usually works flawlessly (99%+), there may be instances where an address is not geocoded correctly and shows up in the wrong location on your map. This can make it difficult to optimize your route, as the resulting directions won’t be accurate.
To help resolve this issue, we’ve built an admin override feature for geocodes. This allows you to send us the preferred geocode coordinates for any address, and we can update them in the system.
Here’s how to find geocode coordinates using Google Maps:
- Open Google Maps on your web browser or mobile device.
- In the search bar at the top of the screen, type the address or location for which you need the geocode coordinates. You may need to reposition the map to find the preferred location of the property.
- Click and hold on the location for which you want to find the longitude and latitude coordinates. This will drop a pin onto the location.
- A small box will appear at the bottom of the screen showing the name of the location and some other details. Look for the coordinates at the bottom of the box (usually written in the format of “40.748817,-73.985428”)
Contact our support team with the address information and your preferred geocode coordinates. Ask for the coordinates to be updated in our system.
